What can you use PDF to JPG for?

A PDF page is hard to drop into a slide, a social post or a web page, but an image is easy. This PDF to image converter draws each page as a JPG you can use anywhere pictures are accepted. It is free and works in your browser.

The resolution decides the pixel size. A standard page is about 595 by 842 pixels at 72 DPI, roughly 1240 by 1754 at 150 DPI and 2480 by 3508 at 300 DPI.

  • Using a page of a report or brochure in a presentation.
  • Sharing a single page as a picture in a chat app.
  • Making preview images of a document for a website.
  • Saving a signed page as an image for a form that does not take PDFs.

PDF to image high quality

For the sharpest result choose 300 DPI and 95% JPG quality. The files are large, so use this for print or detailed drawings. For everyday sharing, 150 DPI at 85% is much smaller and still looks clean on screens.

PDF to image 200KB: keep each image small

Some forms limit an image to 200 KB or less. Choose a limit under Keep each image under. The tool lowers the JPG quality for each page until it fits and reduces the pixel size only if it has to. A page full of small text may need a larger limit to stay readable. If you need to shrink a picture you already have, use the Image Compressor.

Tips for better results

  • Use 150 DPI for screens and everyday sharing, and 300 DPI when the image will be printed.
  • The converter draws whole pages. It does not pull out the separate photos embedded in a PDF.
  • JPG has no transparency, so pages are drawn on a white background.
  • To combine images into a PDF again, use JPG to PDF.

Frequently asked questions

Is the PDF to image converter free and online?

Yes. It is free to use and needs no signup or install.

Is my PDF uploaded when I convert it?

No. The pages are drawn and saved as images by code running in your browser. The file is not sent to Toolbantu or anyone else, and the PDF components are bundled with the site.

Which resolution should I choose?

Use 72 DPI for small previews, 150 DPI for most screen use and 300 DPI when you plan to print or need fine detail. Higher resolutions make larger images and larger files.

How do I convert a PDF to a high quality image?

Choose 300 DPI and 95% JPG quality. The result is sharp but the files are large. Very large pages may be drawn slightly smaller to protect your browser, and the tool tells you when that happens.

How do I convert a PDF to an image under 200KB?

Choose 200 KB under Keep each image under and press Convert to JPG. The tool lowers the quality, and reduces the pixel size if needed, so that each page image stays under 200 KB. If one cannot fit, it tells you.

Can I convert only some pages?

Yes. Tick the pages in the preview or type a range such as 1-3, 7 in the Pages box. The two stay in sync. You can convert up to 100 pages in one run, so pick a range for longer documents.

Why is my image smaller than I expected for 300 DPI?

Very large pages, such as posters, would need more memory than a browser can safely give. In that case the page is drawn at a slightly lower resolution and the tool tells you.

Does it extract the photos that are inside the PDF?

No. It draws each whole page, including text and graphics, as one picture. It does not pull out the separate images stored inside the file.

Can I get PNG instead of JPG?

This tool saves JPG. After converting a single page you can open it in the Image Converter from the What next? panel to save it as PNG or WebP, though converting a JPG does not bring back detail it has already lost.
