Split PDF: Extract Pages or Page Ranges

Pull the pages you need out of a PDF. Type the pages, such as 1-3, 5, 8-10, and save each range as its own file, as one new PDF, or split every page.

100% client-sideYour files stay in your browser and are never uploaded.

How to use Split PDF

  1. Drop a PDF onto the tool, or choose one from your device. The page count appears.
  2. Pick what you want: a separate PDF for each range, one PDF with all the chosen pages, or every page on its own.
  3. Type the pages, for example 1-3, 5, 8-10. Each range is checked against the real page count.
  4. Press Split PDF, then download the files one by one or as a ZIP.

Features

  • Three modes: separate PDFs per range, one PDF of the chosen pages, or every page on its own
  • Clear errors for backwards, overlapping or out-of-range pages, with the page count shown
  • Pages are copied from the original, so quality, text and page size are unchanged
  • Every output is re-opened and its page count checked before it is offered
  • Several files come as individual downloads and a single ZIP
  • Nothing is uploaded: the PDF engine runs on your device

What can you use Split PDF for?

Most PDFs contain more than you need to send. Splitting lets you take just the pages that matter, such as one chapter, a signature page or a single receipt, and leave the rest behind.

Because pages are copied rather than re-rendered, the pieces look exactly like the originals. The only change is which pages are included.

  • Extracting a single chapter or section from a long document.
  • Separating a scanned batch into one file per document.
  • Removing pages you do not want to share by extracting only the rest.
  • Saving each page of a form or invoice batch as its own file.

Tips for better results

  • To remove a page, extract everything except it. For a 10-page file without page 4, type 1-3, 5-10 in the One PDF mode.
  • The One PDF mode keeps the order you type, so 3, 1, 2 gives a file whose first page is the original page 3.
  • Ranges in the Separate PDFs mode must not overlap. If you need the same page in two files, split twice.
  • Password-protected PDFs cannot be opened. Remove the password in a PDF viewer and use the saved copy.

Frequently asked questions

Is my PDF uploaded when I split it?

No. The file is read and split by code running in your browser. It is not sent to Toolbantu or anyone else, and the PDF components are bundled with the site.

How do I write the page ranges?

Use page numbers and dashes separated by commas: 1-3, 5, 8-10 means pages 1 to 3, page 5, and pages 8 to 10. Page numbers start at 1 and must exist in the file.

What is the difference between Separate PDFs, One PDF and Every page?

Separate PDFs makes one file for each range you type. One PDF puts all the pages you type into a single new file, in the order you typed them. Every page saves each page of the document as its own one-page PDF and gives you a ZIP.

Can I extract pages in a different order?

Yes. In the One PDF mode the pages appear in the order you type them, so 3, 1, 2 produces a file that starts with the original page 3.

Will splitting change the quality?

No. Pages are copied from the original, not re-drawn, so text stays sharp and selectable and each page keeps its size. Bookmarks and some interactive form behaviour may not carry over.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

No. The tool cannot open encrypted files and will say so. Remove the password in a PDF viewer first (you need to know it), save a copy, and use that copy.
